Washing is a daily practice. Often we don’t notice that it has many spiritual parallels. Today, as you wash remember the power and presence of water that cleans and makes new. May every washing be a reminder of the times we get a fresh start.
Total Purification — “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” (Psalm 51:7 ESV) How does freedom from guilt or shame make me feel?
Word-Bathed — “That he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.” (Ephesians 5:26-27 ESV) The bride is made ready; how has this truth washed confusion away?
Heart Transformation — “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.” (Psalm 51:10-11 ESV) After David’s sin, he wanted to be made new-share an area you would love to start fresh in, and why.
Grace-Given — “He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior.” (Titus 3:5-6 ESV) How do I feel about being loved and renewed, not because I earned it, but as a gift?
