8 Moves is an exploration of God’s Creation and the spiritual practices that help us connect spiritually. Each Move contributes to understanding our identity and purpose. Here’s an overview of the 8 Moves:
Light: Illumination and Vision
Light helps us gain clarity, discern truth, and align our thoughts with God’s wisdom. Consider the counterintuitive relationship between light and shadow.
“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” (Genesis 1:3 ESV)
Water: Flow and Decisiveness
Water encourages adaptability and spiritual refreshment, symbolizing growth and Living Water. Consider also the chaotic nature of turbulence.
“But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:14 ESV)
Land: Strength and Stability
Land builds a strong foundation rooted in God’s promises, providing structure and the power to stand firm. What about the curse of the land?
“Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses.” (Joshua 1:3 ESV)
Time: Rhythm and Opportunity
Time cultivates awareness of divine timing, embracing balance and seizing opportunities in each season. How does this relate to hope and eternity?
“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” (Genesis 8:22 ESV)
Life: Vitality and Flourishing
Life inspires creativity and joy, reflecting spiritual abundance and nurturing growth in others.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10 ESV)
Work: Purpose and Mission
Work focuses on meaningful action, aligning daily efforts with God’s calling and contributing to His kingdom.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” (Colossians 3:23 ESV)
Rest: Contentment and Trust
Rest embraces grace and restoration through intentional pauses, finding peace in God’s sufficiency.
“And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.” (Genesis 2:2 ESV)
Rebirth: Transformation and Hope
Rebirth promotes deep transformation through grace and the hope of new beginnings.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)
