8 Moves Values

8 Moves is a pathway of spiritual formation rooted in eight movements found in creation, Scripture, and everyday life:

Light and Water, Land and Time, Life and Work, Rest and Rebirth.

Together, these movements shape a way of life — forming us to discover truth, flow freely, find stability, read time rightly, live in community, engage meaningful work, receive grace, and be renewed.

8 Moves Vision Statement: To encourage a movement of spiritual transformation—by providing a strategy for skeptics, seekers, believers, and leaders to grow through practices inspired by creation.

Truth (Light)
Pursuing clarity and understanding in all things, rooted in God’s design and revelation. To bring vision and integrity, countering confusion and deception. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105 ESV)

Flow (Water)
Living with openness and receptivity to God’s Spirit, moving in rhythm with creation and grace. To bring peace and adaptability, countering striving and resistance. “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7:38 ESV)

Stewardship (Land)
Standing firm with grounded strength and dependability, anchored in God’s promises. To bring security and confidence, countering fear and instability. “He set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.” (Psalm 40:2 ESV)

Training (Time)
Recognizing seasons, rhythms, and God’s timing to make wise and faithful choices. To bring patience and wisdom, countering distraction and misplaced priorities. “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12 ESV)

Connection (Life)
Fostering connection, belonging, and shared growth in the community of all living things. To bring support and joy, countering isolation and division. “For just as the body is one and has many members… so it is with Christ.” (1 Corinthians 12:12 ESV)

Faithfulness (Work)
Living with perseverance, integrity, and dedication in both work and service. To bring purpose and fruitfulness, countering inconsistency and neglect. “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” (Colossians 3:23 ESV)

Grace (Rest)
Receiving and extending compassion, rest, and renewal, reflecting God’s restorative love. To bring restoration and freedom, countering shame and exhaustion. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 ESV)

Mission (Rebirth)
Embracing new life with purpose, extending God’s transforming work into the world. To bring direction and hope, countering apathy and despair. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)
