Watch your heart

Sep 12: Proverbs 4-6; John 10

‘ Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you.’ Proverbs 4:23-24

What is vigilance? Is it a continual enduring watchfulness? Have you ever participated in some kind of vigil? It harkens toward images of candles, prayer and memories. Watch your heart.

This reminds me of what Jesus says, ‘The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. ‘ Luke 6:45 The motives of the heart cause words that produce good things or evil. Watch your heart, watch your words and do good.
