8 Moves Session #2 – Land & Time

I. Our connection to the land, takes us all the way back to the third day of creation. The land, is separated, coming up out of the sea; then begins to sprout plants. Dry land is the foundation of  every no – marine biome on the planet. Is your mind is filled with memories of eighth grade or high school earth science class? Deserts, the plains, forests, jungles, even Antarctica are environments, and homes of the multitude of land based creatures we will find in the fifth and sixth days of creation.

II. Land & Time are foundational to our strength.

”You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide their grain, for so you have prepared it. You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth. You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with abundance. The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy, the meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy.“

Psalm 65:9-13 ESV

III. How can we take time to focus on our strength? God has given us a place and time to pay attention to our health. Strength or overall health can be found in many forms; Physically, health may include some or all of the following: Flexibility, speed, stamina, power, endurance, metabolic resilience. How are you maintaining or increasing in strength?

We can look at the significant aspects of a variety of areas of health, emotional, financial, social, familial bonds, all could be looked at as significant aspects of our wholistic/overall health. These will be covered in the session about life. But for now, how we are connected to the land, and our historic moment in human history is important.

“And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”

Mark 8:34-36 ESV

What resources do you have, that support your physical strength and health? Do you have a “go to” trainer that, when you make the time, really works for you? Maybe a YouTube Influencer or a gym.

Time as well as resources are vital. It takes commitment and habituation. Standardization (a place in your calendar and an action in response.) Optimization (a number of reps, miles)
