We have heard the call, a need in the neighborhood. We signed up and went to be part of the service. Many hands make light work, as our grandparents used to say. We swept, we cleaned, we moved boxes, made meals, raked leaves, all for a purpose, a cause. What none of us could do alone, we do together. There’s a meaning behind all this; it just seems right.
Bearing Fruit — “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” (John 15:8 ESV) What good fruit is my life producing in the world around me?
One Body — “For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” (Romans 12:4-5 ESV) How are you connected to and dependent on others?
Spiritual Move: Confession — Find someone you trust and speak what has been sitting unspoken. Confession is not self-punishment — it is the relief of bringing what is hidden into the light of grace. What you name loses its hold. “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.” (James 5:16 ESV)
