You played in the dirt as a kid, noticing the smell: some soil dry and bitter, other damp and sweet. Good soil holds moisture and nutrients, making a way for roots to move through. Intuitively you knew good soil from bad.
Planted to Flourish — “The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God.” (Psalm 92:12-13 ESV) Where are you flourishing in ways you can’t explain fully?
Holding Fast — “But as for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.” (Luke 8:15 ESV) What are you patiently holding that is slowly bearing fruit?
Spiritual Move: Simplicity — Good soil holds what it needs and releases what it doesn’t. The practice of simplicity is learning to hold loosely things like possessions, outcomes, recognition, control. “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 ESV)
