In ancient throne rooms, the king did not stand. Standing was for those with work yet to do. The seated king had established his reign. What remained was the administration of what had already been won.
Made Lord and Christ — “Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” (Acts 2:36 ESV) How does working under lordship change the way you move?
Sat Down — “But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.” (Hebrews 10:12 ESV) Where are you striving as though everything depends on you rather than resting in what has been accomplished?
Spiritual Move: Intercessory Prayer — Because Christ’s work is finished and he is seated at the right hand of God, we pray from a position of completed victory, not anxious petition. Bring specific people and needs before God today, not to inform him but to partner with what he is already doing. “Christ Jesus is the one who died — more than that, who was raised — who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.” (Romans 8:34 ESV)
