Mark begins his good news with a quote from Isaiah. (Mark 1:1-3) John baptized proclaiming the need for repentance. (Mark 1:4-8) Jesus is baptized by John and the Spirit descends. (Mark 1:9-11) Jesus is tempted by Satan in the wilderness. (Mark 1:12-13) Jesus proclaims fulfillment, “repent and believe.” (Mark 1:14-15) Fishermen, “Follow me and gather disciples.” (Mark 1:16-20) Jesus’ fame spreads after exorcising an unclean spirit. (Mark 1:21-28) Jesus heals Simon’s mother-in-law and she serves them. (Mark 1:29-31) Many are brought to Jesus for healing and exorcism. (Mark 1:32-34) Jesus prays early in the morning and preaches from town to town. (Mark 1:35-39) A lepor is cleansed, told to present himself and tell no one. (Mark 1:40-45)
