“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psalm 46:10 ESV
Now let’s start talking about 8 Moves and action. We’ve talked about light and sight. Now think about the interaction of reality all around us and our ability, sight for example. As we realize the truth and how our practices interact, let truth have its way. Realizing reality is real. Have you heard of the coherence theory of truth? If you take a look at the philosophy of truth online, you’ll quickly realize that you agree with some theories more than others. The coherence theory is simple. That truth statements agree with the reality they are trying to portray. The truth is understandable. That reality wouldn’t be intimidating but stoically accepted because it is beyond our control. Certain possibilities, within our control may also be true, depending on our ability to change and adjust those things.
Consider contemplation. A variety of contemplative practices could be talked about here. You could focus on an aspect of creation, like we have talked about, water, separation, light, or life. You could also focus on an important question like, “What is God’s will in this situation?” or “How can I be a better witness to the love of God here?”. As you chew mentally on various topics, some will be more engaging than others. Consider family dynamics or ways that you may have been hurt in the past. Those two often go together. What triggers you? What should you be looking out for as you go forward? You might consider a regular time of contemplation as you seek to understand the various dynamics you encounter in creation.
