Produce, product, production, productivity — we all want to contribute to our community by being effective participants in the work. The ground in which we live, is a contributing factor in our success. The fruits and vegetables we consume are often called produce. What do you produce? What is necessary for your consumption?

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers.” (Matthew 9:37-38 ESV)

Jesus speaks here about a spiritual harvest—people are reqdy to receive the message. The fruit is ripe, but there is a shortage of workers willing to work in the field.

“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” (John 15:8)

To reflect the character and mission of Christ and leading others to Him is the fruit we produce. It will take action, effort, and a obedience to accomplish the work God has for us.

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

The work of bearing fruit and engaging in God’s harvest may feel long and difficult, but don’t give up.

Practice: Reflect on areas where God is calling you to work in His kingdom. Try one step today to reach out and serve them.

Journaling Prompt: What spiritual fruit are you harvesting? How will you responding to God’s call to work the harvest? Will you take steps to engage more fully?

The harvest is plentiful, let His Spirit lead you as you step into an abundant harvest field.
