Ferns and fungi are some of Nature’s most ancient plants. Creation, from simple to complex gives glory (credit) to the wisdom and design of the One, who from the beginning was and is and is to come.
Sowing and Reaping
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9 ESV)
You’ve heard of the concept of sowing and reaping. What you put in the ground, if everything works out, is what comes out of the ground. The same holds true for our spiritual growth, what you put into it is what you get out. The negative example in computer coding is, “garbage in garbage out.” In our lives, just like the harvest is not immediate, maturity is not instantaneous. Paul’s words in Galatians encourage us to press on in doing good. Trust that the fruit will come in due time. Time is part of God’s design and it points us toward a hopeful future. We are called to perseverance, knowing that God is pleased when we are patient and do good.
Faithful Growth
“And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:4 ESV)
Spiritual maturity is like a seed growing in the ground. Our faith needs time to develop—a steady, enduring faith weathers life’s difficulties. Embrace the time. God is using every moment, every struggle, to refine us. Trust the growth process, lean into the long journey of faith, and persevere. (notice the word severe)
Reflection: Where are you being called to patiently sow seeds of goodness? Are you waiting for a harvest? Journaling: Write about a time when patience led to growth. How did you see God’s timing unfold in unanticipated ways? Prayer: Lord, help me to trust in Your timing. Teach me to persevere in doing good, even when I don’t see immediate results. May I grow in steadfastness, knowing that You are completing the work You’ve begun in me. Amen.
