Do you stop to take time and contemplate the photographs at the beginning of each reading? There is a theological idea called, “visio divina,” divine vision. Take time to gaze each day at the picture and contemplate, asking what is the lesson here in this photo. Similarly, each of the 8 Moves is an opportunity to ask, “What is the moral of the story?”
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9 ESV).
Growth takes time. The process of cultivation requires patience. In the book of Galatians, Paul says, keep doing good, even when the results are slow. You’ve heard of the law of the harvest, what you sow, you will reap. It happens “in due season”—God’s timing, not ours.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38 ESV).
Jesus said that the fields are ready for harvest. The problem is that there are not enough workers. The harvest is plentiful. Pray that others will join the work. Kingdom work takes a team of people willing to work hard. The waiting and the working urge us to rely on God to raise up more workers for the harvest. The challenge for us is to remain faithful and focused because God’s timing is perfect. We plant and eventually cultivate if we trust.
Journaling Prompt: What seeds are you sowing? Where do you need to persevere? How can you pray for more laborers?
Prayer: Lord, give me strength to continue doing good, even when I grow weary. Help me trust in Your timing, and raise others to labor alongside me. Amen.
