The waters of life can be calm or they can rage, they are rarely still. Gentle streams can carry us forward or be rushed and unpredictable.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.” (Isaiah 43:2 ESV)
God promises to be with us in clear skies and storms. Right now you might be in the flow of uncertainty but you are not alone. He is a steady guide through every current and tide.
“Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls.” (Psalm 42:7 ESV)
A mystery is symbolized in the depths of water and the depths of our soul. The psalmist is calling us to recognize our deep place and the depths of God’s presence. In seasons of struggle, though drowned by concerns and questions, God is speaking into our depths. We are invited to go deeper, to trust Him in the unknown. In time we find the deep truths by faith.
“The voice of the Lord is over the waters.” (Psalm 29:3 ESV)
From the time of Creation, the Spirit hovered (brooded) over the waters and the power of the Word (the Logos), sometimes called the Wisdom, commanded the sea. He still speaks to our chaos today. From scripture and through prayer we find solace, because One speaks peace over the storm.
Try this – Trusting God: Water moves where it is directed—by the wind, by gravity, by the unseen forces that shape its course. Trusting the spirit means allowing it (Him) to direct our path, release something today—a fear, a worry, a need for control—let God carry you forward and guide you through the currents of life.
