Devo 15: In His Time
Waiting is one of the hardest spiritual disciplines. We live in a world that values speed and immediate results, but God works on a different timeline. Ecclesiastes reminds us of a profound truth:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11 ESV).
God is never late, never rushed, and never uncertain. He is weaving together His purposes, and even when we can’t see the full picture, we can trust that His timing is perfect.
Yet waiting can test our faith. We wonder if God has forgotten us, if His promises will ever be fulfilled. In those moments, the psalmist encourages us:
“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage” (Psalm 27:14 ESV).
Waiting is not passive—it requires strength, faith, and courage. It is an active trust that God is at work, even when we don’t see immediate results. Habakkuk echoes this truth:
“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay” (Habakkuk 2:3 ESV).
Where in your life do you feel like God is taking too long? How might He be using this season of waiting to shape you, deepen your trust, and prepare you for what’s ahead?
Practice Waiting: This week, intentionally embrace waiting as a spiritual practice. The next time you find yourself impatient—whether in traffic, in a conversation, or in an unanswered prayer—pause. Use the moment to breathe, pray, and trust that God’s timing is unfolding exactly as it should.
