My son has “taken over,” my raised bed garden, perhaps a testimony to my impatience and neglect. Imagine planting a seed and waiting for it to grow. At first, there’s no visible progress, but beneath the surface, roots are forming, preparing for the moment of breakthrough. Like a seed’s unseen growth, the ‘Time’ move in our spiritual journey often requires patient trust in God’s perfect timing. Furthermore, every element and moment of our journey requires small adjustments and nurturing, like my garden.
Psalm 31:15 reminds us of God’s sovereignty, Habakkuk 2:3 encourages patience, and 2 Peter 3:8 broadens our perspective on time.
“My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!” (Psalm 31:15 ESV)
“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.” (Habakkuk 2:3 ESV)
“But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” (2 Peter 3:8 ESV)
Reflection: Embracing God’s timing aligns us with His divine rhythm, fostering spiritual growth through an active practice of trust that recognizes His timing as perfect, even when it seems slow. Like a seed in the soil, we may not always see the immediate results, but God is working behind the scenes. Habakkuk reminds us that God’s vision will not delay—it will come at the appointed time. Waiting refines our character, teaching us patience and perseverance, as we trust in His wisdom and timing. His ways are higher than ours, and He is faithful to bring His promises to fruition in our lives.
Challenge: Identify one area where you’re rushing God’s timing. Practice surrendering it daily this week, noting any shifts in your perspective or peace levels. Journaling Prompt: What is one area of your life where you feel God is asking you to wait on Him? How can you trust His faithfulness and timing in that situation? Try this Practice – Waiting on God by taking a few moments each day to surrender your agenda and desires into His hands. Then, resist the urge to rush through your day, trusting that He is working in perfect timing.
