Become the Light: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14 ESV) Jesus calls us to be a city on a hill. Live in such a way that others see God through your love, actions, and words.
In ancient times, cities were often built on hills to be seen from afar, serving as beacons of safety and guidance for travelers. Their light could not be hidden. In the same way, Jesus calls us to live as visible examples of His love, shining brightly for others to see. The theme of Light encourages us to become a reflection of God’s love in our daily actions, allowing His light to shine through our words and deeds so that others are drawn to Him.
Jesus says, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14 ESV).
There is a power in allowing the light of truth to shine through us. Our lives should reflect the love, compassion, and grace of God in a way that others see grace and truth. This call to be light is an invitation and a responsibility.
Being a light in the world is not easy. Our fears, insecurities, or the pressures of everyday life can dim the brightness of our witness. But by staying connected to Christ, we can draw strength to shine His light consistently, despite challenges.
