God is not a God of scarcity but of abundance.
“They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights.” (Psalm 36:8 ESV)
In His presence, there is more than enough—more grace, more love, more provision than we can imagine. The feast the psalmist describes is a picture of blessing and faithfulness promised to all that live by faith in God’s community. Dwelling in His presence faithfully, we find nourishment, strength, and opportunity for more.
“For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.” (Isaiah 44:3 ESV)
The dry land must have water to produce life. Our souls thirst for the things, symbolized by water, that satisfy our needs. God promises to pour out His Spirit like rain on parched ground. Renewal and refreshment come to what was once dryness and hope where there was despair.
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” (Psalm 23:5 ESV)
David’s words remind us that God does not just meet our needs—He exceeds them. When the Shepherd prepares a table for us, He fills our cup to overflowing. This is the nature of His grace: it spills over, not just for our sake but for those around us. We are blessed so that we may bless others, filled so that we may pour out His love to a world in need.
Try Generosity: Grace is meant to flow, not to be hoarded. Look for an opportunity today to be generous. It’s not just about money, but with your time, encouragement, or kindness. As God has poured His love into your life, let it overflow to others, reflecting His boundless grace.
