22-Dec: Jonah 3-Micah 3; 1 John 2-4

Jonah 3: Jonah preaches: Ninevah will be overturned: Sackcloth: Repentance: God saw and did not bring disaster – Jonah goes to Nineveh, 40 days ‘till their destruction, the people put on sackcloth and ash – God heard their prayers.

Jonah 4: Jonah angry: about God’s compassion: about the dying of the vine – Jonah’s anger and the Lord’s mercy, Kill me Lord, Pride because his predictions wouldn’t come true.

Micah 1: Judgment against Samaria and Jerusalem: weeping and mourning – Grief over Samaria and Jerusalem.

Micah 2: Man’s plans and God’s – false prophets: deliverance promised- Judgment against wealthy oppressors, true and false prophets, hope for restoration.

Micah 3: Leaders and prophets rebuked- Judgment against Israel’s leaders.

1 John 2 – Writing so you do not sin, a new commandment, 

1John 2:3And how can we be sure that we belong to him? By obeying his commandments. 

1 John 3: Living as Children of God, love one another

1 John 4: Discerning false prophets, loving one another
