Do you remember a time when you were afraid of the dark? I wasn’t the type to run from the light switch to the bed, but there were moments—camping trips with eerie sounds or a particularly spooky haunted house—that made the darkness feel unsettling. The darkness, however, is more than a physical absence of light. It represents times when we can’t find our way, like during a career change or when things just aren’t going as planned.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105 ESV)
A lamp that helps me find my way, to see and align my steps with my purpose. Life can be dark, and we all need guidance. Though the path ahead may not always be clear, the light shines enough for me to move forward, step by step.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5 ESV)
Even when the way ahead seems uncertain, I can trust the light will guide me. The darkness can’t win. Even when the full picture isn’t clear, the light before me allows me to keep going, confident the path will unfold as I continue on.
