“He covers himself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent.” (Psalm 104:2 ESV)
This truth has been evident in my journey. Before new careers, educational opportunities, and even in difficult relationships, God was at work behind the scenes, aligning circumstances long before I was aware. Some of the hardest times—loss, grief, financial struggles—have felt like darkness with no end. They say it’s always darkest before the dawn, but sometimes the light doesn’t break through as we expect. Instead, it emerges slowly, like the morning sun filtering through the trees—sure, steady, inevitable.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.” (James 1:17 ESV)
The cycles of creation reflect this pattern. The Earth’s rotation ensures that darkness never lasts forever. The seasons shift, guided by the constellations above, whether we notice them or not. God’s movement is just as certain. Jesus, the Light of the World, restored sight to the blind, revealing a deeper truth—God has designed us with the capacity to see when the time is right. If you’re in a season where the light seems distant, take heart. Just because you don’t see it now doesn’t mean it’s not coming. The Father of lights is always at work, bringing revelation, restoration, and hope in His perfect time.
“God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5 ESV)
Spiritual Move: Contemplation—To deepen your awareness of God’s presence, both in everyday activities and in quiet moments. Take moments throughout the day to focus on God’s presence in all things. Engage in silent reflection or centering prayer, inviting God to fill your thoughts. Let daydreaming turn into contemplation of God’s work in the world.
Journal Prompt: In what ways has God’s presence been at work in your life before you recognized it? How can you cultivate a deeper attentiveness to God’s light guiding your steps, even in uncertain times?
