In the beginning, time is set in motion. Before there were days, nights, calendars, or clocks, there was an eternal divine rhythm—light and darkness, evening and morning. Time was woven into the fabric of creation so that living things could grow, rest, and renew. From the first sunrise to your current season, time’s cadence continues by wisdom and grace. Our response is simply to pay attention, listen, learn and grow.
Have you ever waited at a stoplight that just wouldn’t change? Or watched a child grow up so fast? Our sense of time is strange—rushing, waiting—in joys and struggles. Science acknowledges this mystery in the theory of relativity noting that different perspectives see time differently. Spiritually, we are called to move beyond measuring time to discerning what God is doing in it.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV).
These words remind us that our lives don’t have to be considered random or chaotic. They can move forward with sacred purpose. When we feel rushed or stalled, this truth anchors us. It affirms that there is meaning even in waiting and hope even in a hurry.
“But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8 ESV).
God’s view of time stretches far beyond our understanding. He’s not bound by deadlines or delays. This verse can comfort us. God is never late. He is patient, and present in every moment.
Spiritual Move: Journal—Take time today to write. Mark this moment. Reflect on how God is shaping you through this season. Journaling becomes a witness to His timing, even when we don’t get it.
Move it: Step into today with trust. Let journaling slow you down and tune your heart to God’s rhythm. Be present in your season. Be a child of light, grounded in God’s time.
