From the beginning, God infused creation with vitality. Into darkness, He spoke light. Into formlessness, He gave shape. Into dust, He breathed life. All of creation echoes with His energy—every blade of grass, every star, every heartbeat testifies to the Living God who fills all things with meaning and motion. We don’t initiate life. We receive it. And in response, we learn to move with Him—to live, love, and welcome others as signs of His ongoing creation.
I remember watching a campfire spark to life. One tiny flicker caught the edge of a dry leaf, and suddenly warmth and light began to fill the cold, dark clearing. Life can begin like that. Just a spark. A moment of attention. A glance of grace. A sense that you are seen. For some, it’s a stranger’s smile. For others, it’s the first real meal shared after grief. That spark of life—the one God places in us—is not just for surviving, but for shining.
“In him was life, and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4 ESV)
Life is not something we possess apart from Christ. It flows from Him. It is Him. His life is a light—a radiant presence that makes us visible, valued, and renewed. This is not mere existence; it’s divine animation. When you feel alive, truly alive, that’s a glimpse of the God who is both source and sustainer.
“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10 ESV)
Jesus doesn’t offer a diluted, half-hearted version of living. He brings abundance—overflow, warmth, welcome. To receive this life is to be transformed into people who extend that same abundance to others. Not by force, but by hospitality. To open our hearts, our tables, our stories, our quiet—this is to say, “Come in. You are welcome here.”
Spiritual Move: Hospitality—Create space for the spark of life in others to be noticed and nurtured.
Journaling Prompt: Reflect on a time when someone’s hospitality made you feel truly seen and valued. How can you extend that same life-giving presence to others? What steps can you take to create a space of welcome and connection in your life?
Move It: Shine by making space. Offer your presence as light.
