22-Jan: Genesis 47-49; Mark 9-10
Genesis 47: Jacob’s family moves into Goshen. The patriarch Jacob blesses the king of this world, Pharoah who is amazed by his age. Jacob remembers 137 hard years that include, his brother Esau’s hatred and the loss of his favorite son. Grain is rationed out for money, livestock, land, and lives. Jacob makes Joseph promise to bury him in the promised land.
Genesis 48: Jacob blesses Manasseh and Ephraim in adoption as sons, Ephraim ahead of Manasseh, crossed arms.
Genesis 49: Jacob Blesses His Sons, Prophetic statements about the 12 tribes, Jacob’s death and burial.
Mark 9: The transfiguration, the healing of a boy with an evil spirit, “He will rise.” They didn’t understand and were afraid to ask…”Who’s the greatest, against us or for us?” Causing to sin
Mark 10: Divorce, little children and Jesus, rich young man, Jesus again predicts his death, Request of James and John, Bartimaeus’ sight
