To understand the Truth, the scripture says: Pray:
Psalm 119:18 – “Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.”
- This amazing intersection of creation, light, eyes, and mind interpreting what we see.
- Not only that we behold the wonders of the universe, that we see, but it is also a metaphor.
- In the same way, we can see the environment around us, we can see and have insight into the wonder of God’s guidance through the scriptures.
Ephesians 1:17-18 – “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.”
- Here’s a great idea, pray for others. Pray that they would receive wisdom and revelation from the Spirit.
- Better yet, realize that you have the Spirit, the Spirit is in you, giving you wisdom and revelation.
- Eyes again! Paul’ says the eyes of our heart can be enlightened. Do you believe it?
- Then you will know your destiny, “the hope to which he has called you.”
- More metaphors? The riches, glorious inheritance, along with holy people. We only know some of what that means.
Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
- When God answers our prayers, Paul says, anxiety can be relieved. Why wouldn’t we do that?
- Let your requests be known because you have the greatest power in the universe, willing to help you find peace.
- This wisdom will surpass your understanding and strengthen your heart and mind.
Colossians 1:9-10 – “And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
- Unstoppable prayer.
- So that we would be filled up with understanding.
- So that we would live moral, ethical, kind, and loving lives.
- To please the Spirit, whose fruit is increasing as we learn of God.
James 1:5 – “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
- In a world with so much information, we need to ask God, what it all means, and what am I to do with it.
- Truth applied correctly is wisdom.
- Again, we see that God is generous, we can trust him to help us with the insight we need.
