“I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten…” (Joel 2:25 ESV)
Loss and hardship are part of life. It’s not a nice thing to say, especially when Hurricane Helene slammed into the southeast United States, this week. Like the devastation brought by swarming locusts – I’m reminded of my first day of seventh grade; the history class began describing the effect of locusts on human migration. Still, God’s promise of restoration is profound. No matter what has been taken from us—time, health, joy—He is capable of redeeming those years.
“Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.” (Psalm 51:12 ESV)
God’s restorative power invites us to trust in His timing. His plans are for our good. Taking moments to pause and seek God can lead to healing.
Practice: Embrace the restorative moments He offers – quiet prayer, nature, or time spent in the community. Identify an area that needs restoration. Spend time in a quiet place, allowing the Spirit to renew you. Journaling Prompt: Reflect on a time when you experienced restoration and how it changed you. Invite more restorative moments into your life today.
