As we work to create sustainable communities we are supporting one another in faith.
“Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in” (Isaiah 58:12 ESV).
We are called to restore communities. In a world where division and brokenness are prevalent, we must be a “repairer of the breach;” a powerful reminder to bring healing and wholeness to the community. The “ancient ruins” mentioned in Isaiah are more than physical structures; they symbolize broken relationships, forgotten values, and spiritual desolation.
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2 ESV).
Bearing each other’s burdens means lifting those weighed down by the cares of this world. We can provide spiritual support when it’s most needed and embody Christ’s love with our actions. This is sustaining communities.
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24 ESV).
Reflection: How can I be a “repairer of the breach” in my community? Where is God calling me to help rebuild what is broken? Practice: Find a practical way to support your faith community this week. With a conversation, volunteering, or praying for someone in need, make an effort to sustain the spiritual health of those around you. Journaling: Where do I see brokenness in my community? How can I offer support to those in need of spiritual, emotional, or physical restoration? Write about a time when someone supported you in your journey of faith.
