Five: Its Lamp Is the Lamb

Posted on October 11, 2026October 15, 2026

Light · Worldview · Screens

It’s midnight, and the living room is lit only by the blue glow of phones. Everyone sits in the same room, faces lit from below, each looking at a different small light. Outside the window the stars are out, and no one sees them. Most days end facing a screen. What light are you living by?

John sees the new Jerusalem come down from heaven (Revelation 21:10). “I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city has no need for the sun or moon to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it and its lamp is the Lamb.” (Revelation 21:22-23 WEB). Isaiah saw the same promise: the sun will be no more your light (Isaiah 60:19).

In this city the light no longer comes from the sky. It comes from God and the Lamb, and people walk by it. “The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring the glory and honor of the nations into it. Its gates will in no way be shut by day (for there will be no night there),” (Revelation 21:24-25 WEB). The city’s twelve gates carry the names of the twelve tribes of Israel (Revelation 21:12), and they stand open to the nations.

Spiritual Move: Intercessory Prayer. Find one nation on a map, one you know little about. Pray for its people for ten minutes, that they would walk in the light of the Lamb.
