Rest is Essential. After a tough workout, an emotionally draining experience, or a challenging day at work, our bodies send signals that we need rest. But sometimes we’re too busy or unaware to listen. In those moments, someone might have to gently remind us, “Take a moment to sit and relax.” If you feel burdened and overwhelmed, rest is available—just listen to these words:
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 ESV)
The prescription is simple: surrender to the necessity of rest. This isn’t just about physical recovery, but emotional release as well. It’s about letting go of worries and accepting that some things are beyond our control. Choose to lighten your load and make space for peace, trusting that things are unfolding as they should.
“Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.” (Psalm 55:22 ESV)
In moments of rest, we lay down our anxieties, and God will sustain us. Rest in His care is a reminder that He is in control. Letting go is an act of faith. Here are some more reminders that may help:
“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent” (Exodus 14:14 ESV).
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10 ESV).
Spiritual Move: Surrender. Practice the discipline of surrendering your anxieties and burdens to God, trusting in His control. In doing so, you allow yourself to rest fully in His care and presence.
Try this: Identify one worry or responsibility you’ve been holding too tightly. Take a deep breath, pray, and release it to God. Trust Him to handle it.
