We have all felt broken and unworthy. Perhaps we have seen objects created with the Japanese art form Kintsugi, the technique of repairing broken pottery with gold. Instead of regret, the imperfection is highlighted. Acceptance of the break becomes part of the beauty. What is damaged calls us to reflect on the significance.
Transplanted Heart — “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.” (Ezekiel 36:26-27 ESV) How are you developing a tender heart?
Mental Metamorphosis — “Put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:22-24 ESV) How are you renewing your mind?
Spiritual Move: Surrender — Release control of your day by taking up your cross as an act of radical trust. “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23 ESV)
