If you can see, you understand the illuminating effect of light. Spiritually speaking, light changes hearts and gives understanding. Here, Paul points to a mysterious relationship between God’s glory and the face of Jesus. In Jesus, God’s will reveals its continuing purpose and movement, giving knowledge and illumination through the life of Christ.
For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6 ESV)
