Mostly, we all want to keep on keeping on. Life is indeed a marathon but without the registration, training and toe-ing the line, can we indeed really know how to keep going? As some have said, you have to get in the game. This will give you a purpose beyond yourself. Then when those great philosophical questions rise up, “Why am I here?” We will have an answer.

Best Use — “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” (Ephesians 5:15-17 ESV) How am I using the time I’ve been given?

Alert — “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” (Matthew 25:13 ESV) What does it mean to live with awareness that time is limited and precious?

Faithful Endurance — “For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For, ‘Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay.’” (Hebrews 10:36-37 ESV) Where do I need endurance to keep going when the path is long?

Eternal Mercy — “As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children.” (Psalm 103:15-17 ESV) How does my brief life connect to something eternal and lasting?

Spiritual Move: Sacred Scheduling – Set aside some time to look at your calendar. What truly matters for faith and faithfulness? Make time for relationships and your calling before God. Choose two or three priorities to put at the top of the list.
