The human brain processes the present moment about half a second after it occurs. What we experience as “now” is, in a small sense, living slightly behind the moment we think we are in.
This Very Day — “And he said to him, ‘Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.’” (Luke 23:43 ESV) Where do you need assurance more than answers?
Present Urgency — “Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness.’” (Hebrews 3:7-8 ESV) What are you hearing today that you keep pushing away?
Spiritual Move: Gratitude — The practice of seeing and declaring what is good. What you attend to and give thanks for shapes what you are able to see. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV)
