We use water to clean everything: body, food, home, wounds, and we do it without thinking. It is so routine we barely notice because something in us desires it. Soap has a dual nature; one side draws water, the other draws grease, and together they carry away the stain. We wash our hands multiple times a day, bubble suds through our fingers are some of our youngest memories. Sure, it’s sanitation and preparation for our meals, but it’s also an assurance. Cleansing is more than a habit; it’s a question. Are we ready?
Total Purification — “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” (Psalm 51:7 ESV) Where do you most need to be washed clean?
Baptismal Cleansing — “And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.” (Acts 22:16 ESV) How have you experienced a washing away of your past?
Spiritual Move: Lament — The practice of bringing grief, confusion, or unanswered desires before God. Lament is not the absence of faith; it is faith that doesn’t give up staying expressive. “How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?” (Psalm 13:1)
