Fourteen: Tend the Ground

Posted on June 3, 2026June 2, 2026

We’ve all had those jobs, daily, tedious, monotonous, even backbreaking work. Whether it was in a garden or down on our knees, it had to be done. Maybe it was household chores or a side hustle just to make ends meet. In the midst of it all, the heat of the day, the neck and back ache, hands and feet can’t wait for relief. Behind it all, there is a promise that keeps us going.

Yielding Increase — “The land yielded its increase, and God, our God, blessed us.” (Psalm 67:6 ESV) Where is something you tended producing more than expected?

Due Season — “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9 ESV) What are you tempted to quit before the harvest?

Spiritual Move: Scripture Memorization — Remembering by heart is a way to store light inside you. This daily practice of memorizing and reviewing God’s word makes it readily available for every day. “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11 ESV)
