Every endurance athlete knows the paradox — the body doesn’t grow stronger during training. It grows stronger during recovery. The workout creates the conditions. The rest does the building. Push without recovery long enough and the body doesn’t plateau. It breaks. Depletion is not a personal failure. It is a signal. What is yours telling you right now?
He Restores — “He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:3 ESV) Where are you depleted right now, and how are you being led?
Strive to Enter — “So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest.” (Hebrews 4:9-11a ESV) What is keeping you from entering the rest prepared for you?
Spiritual Move: Prayer of Rest — Bring your exhaustion to Christ without an agenda. Not a list, not a request, not a performance — just the weight of what you are carrying laid at his feet. Let the prayer be as simple as arrival. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 ESV)
