Every living thing seeks cover when the conditions turn hostile. Birds fold into branches. Animals find burrows. Even trees pull resources inward when the season turns cold. The instinct to find shelter is not weakness — it is survival intelligence built into the fabric of living things. What are you exposed to right now that you were not designed to weather alone?
Refuge and Fortress — “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” (Psalm 91:1-2 ESV) Where are you looking for security in something that cannot ultimately hold you?
Perfect Peace — “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” (Isaiah 26:3 ESV) Where does your mind keep drifting from trust, and what would it take to bring it back?
Spiritual Move: Solitude & Retreat — Taking time to deliberately withdraw from the demands of daily life to restore the soul. “But Jesus often withdrew to desolate places and prayed.” (Luke 5:16)
