Water has been called the universal solvent because of its power to cut through so many kinds of dirt. The filth that clings to us becomes heavy and obvious. We long for the washing.
Total Purification — “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” (Psalm 51:7 ESV) Where do you most need to be washed clean?
Baptismal Cleansing — “And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.” (Acts 22:16 ESV) How have you experienced a washing away of your past?
Spiritual Move: Examen — This ancient practice is a daily review, by tracing where the day flowed and where it got stopped up, where grace was given and where it was needed. Slow down at the end of the day and look back honestly. “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” (Psalm 139:23 ESV)
