When you gathered around a fire at the beach or campsite, the fire warmed the air and comforted you. There was something about the flames. They became a mysterious unifying force.
Visible Witness — “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16 ESV) How is your life pointing others toward what is good and true?
Children of Light — “For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true).” (Ephesians 5:8-9 ESV) Where are you walking in the light, and where are you not?
Spiritual Move: Spiritual Reading — Start making it a habit to approach any sacred text or source of truth with openness, letting it read you as you read it. “And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.” (2 Peter 1:19 ESV)
