We’ve all had restless nights, our minds raced, our bodies couldn’t relax. The darkness made the night seem endless. Exhaustion becomes tossing and turning. The unknown has a weight all its own. We longed for what we could not force.

Dawn Breaking — “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.” (Isaiah 9:2 ESV) Where have you experienced the hope of light breaking into your darkness?

Armor of Light — “The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:12 ESV) How does the promise of light give you hope in dark times?

Spiritual Move: Contemplation/Meditation — The practices of moving beyond reading to resting. Turning a word, image, or truth over slowly until it finds a place in us. This is less about knowledge and more about being shaped by what we know. “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” (Psalm 1:2)
