We know the miracle of light and sight. Not only do we have the capacity to see, but we have something to see and light to illuminate the reality before us. These connections are vital, and quickly missed, for example, when the power goes out. We use the light when we have a question, where’s the path, where are my keys? There’s a light in my hand and another in my head.
Light Bearers — “Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.” (Philippians 2:14-15 ESV) How are you shining the light in your circumstances?
The Eye of the Lamp — “No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light.” (Luke 11:33-36 ESV) What are you currently looking at most?
