Ten: Follow the Current

We’ve seen the river flow, winding like a snake through the landscape. The power builds as tributaries add to its force. No place to go but forward with its momentum. Then, off in the distance, we hear the roar of the waters because what was a predictable path became the cliff of a waterfall. Water gave way to its destiny, a tumbling chaotic moment in midair. As the water lands in the churn below, the freefall becomes frenzy before joining its new path.

The River of Gladness — “There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.” (Psalm 46:4 ESV) When does your joy feel deeper than your circumstances?

Healing Waters — “Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city.” (Revelation 22:1-2a ESV) From where are you drawing your life?

Spiritual Move: Contemplative Prayer — We pray contemplatively when we stop talking, start listening, release our agenda, and rest in God’s presence. This is prayer without a script, where silence becomes the language, and the Spirit carries what words cannot. We bring our weakness; God brings everything else.“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” (Romans 8:26 ESV)
