Where are our struggles in time? Our regrets and guilt of the past, our worries and plans for the future, could have a part in the answer. Today reminds us that the past and future are out of reach. Still, we need to experience the significance of the moment, the opportunity, the challenge before us.
This Very Day — “And he said to him, ‘Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.’” (Luke 23:43 ESV) Where do you need assurance more than answers?
Present Urgency — “Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness.’” (Hebrews 3:7-8 ESV) What are you hearing today that you keep pushing away?
Spiritual Move: Examen — At the close of today, trace the path you actually walked. Where did you sense the light — a moment of clarity, a right decision, an unexpected peace? Where did you stumble or lose your footing? Bring both honestly before God. “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” (Psalm 139:23 ESV)
