We have all said it, “Is this all there is?” Or “There’s got to be more than this.” And the motivational speaker says, “You were made for more!” These are all questions of time and meaning. The sideways 8, restarting the week, and an infinite loop become a picture of the struggle, over and over again. Are these longings a hint of where we should be looking?
Eternal Longing — “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11 ESV) What do you keep wanting that nothing here fully provides?
Glory to be Revealed — “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” (Romans 8:18 ESV) What present struggle looks different when you compare it to your future?
Spiritual Move: Fixed-Hour Prayer — Try to structure your day around set times of prayer: morning, midday, and evening. Let the clock become a reminder that time belongs to God. Each pause is a small act of trust that the day doesn’t depend entirely on you. “He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.” (Daniel 6:10 ESV)
