Thirty-Four: Let Go and Trust

We have slept in the backseat as children without concern for the road ahead. Even in the passenger seat, during the road trip, we relinquished control to the driver. Stroller, dad’s shoulders, with and without the training wheels, trust was part of our lives before we understood it. Sometime in there, we decided, “I can do it.” and took control.

Surrendered Confidence — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV) How are you still trying to control things?

Quiet Trust — “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15 ESV) Where do I need to stop trying harder and return to rest?

Spiritual Move: Solitude & Retreat — The practice of withdrawing from the noise and demands of ordinary life to be alone with God. A time of intentional quiet to create space where the soul can be heard and attended to. “But Jesus often withdrew to desolate places and prayed.” (Luke 5:16 ESV)
